ProteusDS Core Change Log

Release Date: 2022-09-22 v2.62.5

Changes:

  • FIX – ProteusDS Solver – Addressed an issue with the non-linear load-elongation model that caused poor quality fits when using $LoadElongationMode 1 for DCableSegments
  • FIX – ProteusDS Solver – Fixed issue in SCable lengthsStretched.dat file
  • FIX – ProteusDS Solver – Fixed issue in rigid body mesh feature’s forces.dat and forcesGlobal.dat output files
  • FIX – ProteusDS Simulation Toolbox no longer throws a rare error when modifying the position of $ExtMass properties in a Cable object.
  • FIX – ProteusDS Report Tool – Fixed issue where reports would fail to complete if $CableSegmentMode was set to ‘0’
  • CHANGE – ProteusDS Parts Editor – improved metadata export of components to ProteusDS .ini file format
  • CHANGE – PostPDS – There is now an option to export DNet objects to .OBJ mesh files at the time specified in the time slider.

Release Date: 2022-04-11 v2.62.1

Changes:

  • CHANGE – All applications are now 64-bit.
  • CHANGE – As a result of the transition to 64-bit, all previous versions of ProteusDS must be uninstalled prior to installing this version. The new default installation folder will be ‘C:\Program Files\Dynamic Systems Analysis\ProteusDS’ instead of ‘Program Files (x86)’
  • CHANGE – PostPDS – With PostPDS now being a 64-bit application, the entire pool of system memory is now available to be used for loading simulation results.
  • CHANGE – ProteusDS Queueing Manager – Several issues were addressed when multiple simulations were selected
  • CHANGE – ProteusDS Report Tool – The Report Tool has been substantially rewritten to enhance usability.
  • CHANGE – ProteusDS Case Explorer – The Case Explorer is now available in ProteusDS Core. The Case Explorer allows users to quickly set up batches of simulations with varying environmental conditions. The Case Explorer exports simulations to a folder structure that we encourage all users to adopt.
  • CHANGE – Parts Editor – The standalone Parts Editor application is now available in ProteusDS Core. This was necessary due to how file associations in Windows only allow linking to a single application. Although this application is primarily intended for use with the Oceanographic and Fish Farm modules for the present time, users can view a selected part in ‘ProteusDS ini format’ allowing for easy copy/paste into a feature in ProteusDS Simulation Toolbox.
  • CHANGE – All – Added an ‘Installed versions…’ option to the ‘Help’ menu to assist in determining which versions of the various ProteusDS applications are installed.
  • FIX – PostPDS – Addressed an issue where some types of fish farm systems would fail to load properly
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed issue where DCable ExtMass arc positions were occasionally incorrect
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed issue where some data wasn’t being reported at the exact time indicated
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed issue in ABA algorithm where added mass force wasn’t being correctly propagated through the joint
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed issue in RigidBodyRAO feature where zero amplitudes or amplitudes over 6.28 were not being correctly utilized
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed issue in QuasiStaticCable where it would intermittently fail to identify the float buoy
  • FIX – Solver – Some unused output files have been removed. This primarily effects verbose reporting
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed various issues and improved error handling associated with referencing the end of cables and edges of nets. This includes placing ExtMasses, connections to net edges, etc
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed several issues in the non-linear elasticity algorithm
  • FIX – Solver – The Cable DObject now uses engineering strain instead of green strain. This will cause slightly differences in the load-elongation behaviour relative to previous versions. This difference should be small for the normal range of strains.
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed an issue where cableSegmentHeightAboveSeabed.dat was empty when using $CableSegmentMode 1
  • FIX – Solver – The calculation of grounded line length has been modified which may result in slightly different values than the previous algorithm
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed an issue where an incorrect number of filaments could be used on the right edge of Net DObjects.
  • FIX – Solver – Updated several default properties throughout ProteusDS. These new defaults should be reflected in ProteusDS Simulation Toolbox.
  • FIX – Solver – Fixed a spelling error in submergenceProbe.dat

Known issues:

  • The ProteusDS Solver writes out precurve information for Cable DObjects to its TerminalIC folder. Although this will not impact functionality, it will cause warnings to be issued if that TerminalIC is reused as the beginning state of a future simulation.
